beauty of poetry is somtimes same sher gives different meaning in different aspect of life it happened to me many times .some sher are multipupose it can be used in different situations. thats what i love about poetry

And the funny part is that the poet may have wanted to say something completely different. It is the reader/listener's imagination which draws the meaning and we all draw the meanings which suit us. Don't we?

    yup
i was once told by very famous poet of east punjab that once a sher gets out of poets hands or mouth .its no longer belong to him .now it has become property of reader or listner and he has every right to see it with its own glasses

Thank for Ghalib and Shafqat Amanat Ali Khan. I take it that you are a Ghalib Fan as well?

    @KHAN_Sahib

"Dil to Bacha hai Ji" is very nice. I hope your link-playing problem is over. It better be because I want you to listen to this oldie. Very nice poetry by Saif-ud-Din Saif. I met him once and he confided that this was written by him in momory of a girl he loved once. I hope you will like it.

"anyone who does not appreciate Ghalib, does not know what poetry is all about"

Quite a statement! But I am in total agreement. What fascinates me about Ghalib is that he was very much aware of his greatness.

    "Bazeecha-e-itfaal hai dunya meray aagay"

There were others in his eara like Zauq and Momin but my mind always reverts to:

"Hain aur bhi dunya mein sukhanwar buhat acchay
kehtain hein ke Ghalib ka hai andaaz-e-biyan aur"

  13. Shan-e-Mauseeqi Musician,

Today I found a very old song.
In 1959, our group of friends at the Law College Hostel Lahore, walked 2 miles to listen this song at a hotel where the song was being played in the evening.

der lagi aaney mein tum ko
shukr hai phir bhi aaye toe

If I recall correctly, the composition is by Chitargupt and from the film "opera House". No doubt you will put me right.
And I think "2 miles" is overstating a bit because you would have gone to a small hotel on Mcleod Road which specialised in Ice Cream????.

About a Week ago, a member Azizi asked you a question on Anarkali. I think you owe him a reply.

I think Gujjar Talwar deserves to be a Sitara-e-Forum. What do you think.

I made a small contribution to "Ground Reality". I wonder if you had a chance for a critical review.

I hope you will offer something for Friday!

  15. Shan-e-Mauseeqi Musician,
    1. The song is from film Guest House, and you are right about Chitargupt.
    2. About Anarkali I guess the incident was initiated in Lahore and lasted for several years.
Most Possibly portions of the Romance had some link with Delhi as the Royal family and their associates kept on moving to Agra, Delhi, Kashmir Lahore.
    3. Mr. Gujjar Talwar well deserves for the title of
    Sitara-e-Forum. I endorse your proposal.
For all the future references at the Corner of
Sher-o-Naghma, Mr. Gujjar Talwar should be addressed with his Title as 'Sitara-e-Forum'.
Do you have the record of the total members who have been awarded with the Titles?
    4. Thanks for your remarks about 'Ground Reality'.
Right now still it is Thursday in America.
I would turn on my Music Chamber Tomorrow.
    Thanks.

Tina had a lot of talent but was not discoverd/exploited. In my opinion the composers did not compose according to her voice and therefore she did not have many hit songs as she should have done.

Again in my opinion her real talent started emerging late in her life and I offer one example where you can see her totally relaxed and enjoying what she is doing.

I hope you will enjoy it. And by the way, I have invited Javed Sheikh and Farigh Jazbati to the party. i hope this is okay with you.

  36. Shan-e-Mauseeqi Musician,
A week long break at this Corner is causing some concern about your status.
I wish you and your family is O.K.
I hope you are still at the Board?
Most of the members at this corner might be feeling the same way.

  37. I would like to make a request to the members at this corner to find out any contact to reach Mr. Musician.

Even Mr. Salam and Mr. Peterpan are not active as they were.
I wish all are feeling well.

It is understandable reason for their absence at the Forum what is causing concern.
