Roman Urdu vs. Urdu font on Discuss

(20 posts)
  1. People have been writing in Roman Urdu on this forum for quite a while. Many members have expressed reservations or have indicated difficulties in reading Roman Urdu. Main reason for such incompatibility is the lack of any standard.

I would like to get a quick poll on this Issue. Answer only one. Please note, it might not weigh much, what you like to write in but it is very important for the readers who you are trying to communicate with:

1- I would like everyone to write only in English
2- I would prefer people to write in Urdu font or in English.
3- Roman Urdu does not bother me, it is a quick way to express.

Note: There is already a Help tab to guide anyone to Urdu fonting. More can be done if there need be.

  2. 2- I would prefer people to write in Urdu font or in English.

I absolutely ignore any Roman Urdu text as my comprehension of RU goes down quickly.

  14. in my view ,ppl who are comfortable writing in Englsih ,can go ahead and ppl who has good and valuable views to add but lacks writing skills ,should not be deprived of posting by any restrictions on writing roman script .

.....we all are Pakistanis ,no matter ,which part of the world ,we are living in,so we all can understand urdu in roman script ....

....many ppl dont have any idea that how to put urdu font here ?

    so i vote for 3 .

  19. Please allow all three types of writing, English, Urdu font or Roman Urdu on this site. Pakistanis living abroad (the Diaspora) gain a lot by being able to use Roman Urdu since many of them have no Urdu font at their disposal. We thank you in advance for taking our view into account.
