MemberPakistan is heading towarrds 9-12 position play-off until pak can do the near impossible of beating aust on monday.
ITs really bad seeing pak hockey in such shambles.

We should Ban Cricket and hockey teams to play in any international tournaments. They should just play within Pakistan as we really are not going to gain anything from these 2 sports instead we should have more sports which are dependent on individuals like boxing, squash, tennis, kabbadi, wrestling.... Something which doesn't need unity of more then 2 people... We are individuals and can not play as a unit (in and out of ground)

Thats one aspect of the things but at the same time i would say that we shouldn't be comparing hockey and cricket at all.
Just to give example , the capitan of pakistan hockey team , zeeshan ashraf is a contract employee (cashier) of NBP and in the same NBP , Salman Butt crickter is VP .
What we have invested in hockey? PTV is not telecasting any hockey matches whereas crap cricket matches of other teams are telecasted for whole day.

Memberhockey is gone from Pakistan, few who r playing in khoshab and lala moosa are not good enough ( hockey karach, lahore, pinidi or any big city main to ab hoti nhi hay).
sad, we are no longer sporting nation, hockey ke bad ab cricket ka bhi down fall hey.

MemberJaypk, hockey is my passion which i inherited from my late mother. Having played both at club and university levels, i have been following hockey for last 25 plus years.
There are only 12 teams playing here . Pakistan's best hockey is india beats SA or SA beats india by a margin of more than 3 goals.
This would be the first time since 1975 , india would end up higher than pakistan in the world cup unless SA beats india by 4 goals or more.
Pakistan hockey is really in bad hands these days. Last year i went to Pakistan and took some training material , books & cd's with me . This general secretary , ASif BAjwa (i have practiced with him during early 90's although we don't know each other personally) was sitting in his office having taken off his shirt and dealing with people. I told him that i m an ex-pat pakistani and just for my satisfaction , i have brought some material , he didn't enertain me and rudely another ex-player danish kaleem to take me to another room and take whatever i have got.
So , u can image what sort of people are managing hockey.
Prior to this , Khalid Mehmood , the winner capital of 1971 world cup was secretary general of PHF and i used to call him over the phone and argue about the team selection and things and KM (he was captain of Pakistan hockey before my birth and would be of my father's age) politely listened to me and tried to justify just becaz i was a fan and interested in hockey.
u can judge the sitatuion from these couple of my personal experiences.

MemberPakistan ends up on the bottom of pool and will play 11-12 position match against canada.
If i remmember correctly , canada beat in position play-off in 1986 and if that happens , it will be worst ever finish for pak.
And if pak beats canada , pak will be equallying its worst perforamnce of 11th that it did in 1986.

Memberbut in any case, it would be worst ever finish for pakistan in World cup.
Had the team played half good against SA as it played against Aust, it would have beaten SA easily but its all history now.
I think there was grouping and senior / junior rift in the team as well becaz there was no combination / passing at all.
