    Air Pollution and Public Health

China's reliance on its abundant but dirty coal has produced a number of
negative consequences; one of the biggest is air pollution. According to World
Bank figures, 16 of the world's 20 most polluted cities are in China, while
around 400,000 people die prematurely each year of respiratory problems related
    to air pollution.

On one side we are blaming India for stealing our water for generation of electricity and irrigation, but question is if we waste our water ourselves in sea as sea fishes are thirsty or as there is shortage of rain on the sea while it is sea which receive the larger portion of rain as compared to land then infact India is doing a noble thing and we Pakistanies by wasting sweet water in the sea, are doing a crime and sin against humanity.

VICTIMIZATION OF RIVER INDUS BY Govt of SINDH
On one side Sindh is wasting River Indus water in sea but on other side making objection on use of water by other provinces for agriculture (Chasma Jehlum Link Canal) and Kalabagh dams for electricity generation.
On one side Sindh is calcimining that there is rise of sea level and problem of land erosion and other side also advocating wastage of 10 million Acre feet water in sea to further raise the level of sea and will cause more land erosion.
On one side Sindh is saying there is water logging and salinity problem in Thatta and Badin and on other side itself spreading and aggravating these problems with wastage of huge (13 Million Acres feet= 0NE CRORE Thirty Laks Acre Feet Water) Quantity of water for few thousands Acres of land in Thatta and Badin
On one side Sindh is calaiming that there is rise of sea level due to global warming and other side also advocating generation of electricity from Thar coal which is the most polluted source of energy and main culprit of global warming and will pollute all land, air and water resources of Pakistan including River Indus.
On one side Sindh is cultivating Rice crop in desert and there is always increase in agriculture out put in the end of year but on other side always crying that there is shortage of water while infact all rivers of Pakistan including Hub River of Balouchistan goes down towards Sindh and their is contineously increase in flow of water year by year.

On one side Sindh always demanding fresh water but itself doing nothing for prevention of pollution and preservation of water. no single treatment plant is there, no desalination plant is there, on the contrary polluting river Indus water with salt mines and sea water and many lakes have been converted into useless lakes due to pollution.
On one side Sindh makes claim on whole water of Indus but on other side victimizing this river by polluting with sea water, factories wastage and fertilizer, infact Indus water near Thatta and Badin is so much polluted and poisioned in Sindh that no one can use that for any purpose.

On one side Sindh show they love river Indus, but on other side by wasting its water in sea and opposing any development project on River Indus, Province of Sindh is converting to River Indus into a Nullah and making this river useless for People of Pakistan and instead of preventing its wastage and diverting towards Karachi and coast of Makran,Sindh is wasting River Indus in the sea.

Great Wastage of Indus Water in sea and Criminal Negligence of Government of Pakistan.
On one side Government of Pakistan is wasting One Crore Acre Feet water of River Indus in the sea as per demand of Government of Sindh to irrigate few thousands acres saline and salty land of Thatta of few selected Feudals, it is not known that which type of golden or paradise crop is cultivated there, and why Government of Pakistan is starving the people of Cholistan,Thar WHERE EVEN DRINKING WATER IS NOT AVAILABLE, Even in Karachi drinking water is supplied even after 10 to 15 days to people. Why so great wastage of water and why no provision of water for irrigation for millions of acres water thirsty land of Pakistan and why objection on preservation of water in Kalabagh Dam,
Importance of Electricity Versus Wastage of Water for Feudals.
Why opposition on generation of electricity by Kalabagh Dam in which no water is wasted but provide option of safe storage of water for future use. Electricity is the need of each and every minute and moment of human life, people can not tolerate outage of electricity for one hour while agriculture land can tolerate need of water even many weeks, but why importance to agriculture of few feudals and no importance to electricity which is the need of each and every citizens
    • Children weeps in the night due to high temperature and mosquitoes bite due to outage of electricity,
    • Students can not study in night due to outage of electricity.
    • Industry can not run without electricity.
    • Machinery can not run without electricity.
    • Surgeons can not operate without electricity.
    • A patient on life machine can not survive without electricity.
    • Even in agriculture can not use Tubewell without electricity.
    • Fertilizer can not be manufactured without electricity.
    • Pesticide can not be manufactured without electricity.
    • Sugar Mills,Cotton Mills,Flour Mills,Rice Mills can not run without electricity.
Above points clearly indicates that use of water for generation of electricity is 1000 times better than wastage of water on land or in sea for few feudals, because water wasted in land or sea is not recoverable but water use for generation of electricity in Kalabagh Dam will be available for use for agriculture and Industry as it was suitable before generation of electricity and there will be no wastage of water.
From all above points it is clear that those(Including wapda,Govt of Pakistan,Sindh,Punjab,NWFP,Sindh and Balouchistan) who opposing the generation of electricity and preservation and safe storage of water in Kalabagh dam are criminal of humanity as well as of World.

we can cross the once mighty Indus on foot for all but some weeks during the year even at Kalabagh, our dams are empty and forests dying and you think there is enough water for WASTAGE IN THATTA AND BADIN AND NOT FOR CJ link and Thal which are both snow melted canals and not flood canals. The CJ link canal is open as it comes from melted snow from mountains and not due to any rain or flood while the canals of Sindh remain dry due to wastage of river Indus in sea in flood season. There is need to close the wastage of river Indus water in sea and make arrangements so that Canalas like Thal ,Chashma Jehlum and others canals may be kept open for whole of year for irrigation and human use.
Politicians of Sindh repeated insistence on justification of precious water wastage in sea is nauseating, when these politicians are so blatantly lying about availability of water right now, it is confirmed that with wastage of river water and with smoke of Thar Coal Sindh govt is going to kill Pakistan and Sindh of starvation and diseases.
Also, Sindh Govt shamelessly talk in favour of Thar coal most polluted source of energy in world in one sentence and then against Kalabagh in another. Wastage of River water and Thar coal are both crimes against humanity. The alternative option to Thar Coal is to build environment friendly dams like Kalabagh which will preserve precious water and will provide clean electricity and will not waste water neither will pollute environment like Thar Coal.
After Kalabagh every one will get sufficient clean water, clean energy and not dirty energy like that of Thar Coal.
Noble says,Wasting one glass of water is a sin and Saving one drop of water makes a difference of oceans and Govt of Sindh is shamelessly giving reasons and justifications for wastage of one crore acre feet of river sweet water in sea.

Noble says, burning home garbage and use of coal for cooking and use of Gas and Petrol in cars harms and pollute the environment while Govt of Sindh is shamelessly advocating burning millions of tons of coal which will pollute all land, air and water resources of not only Pakistan but of whole earth.
Wastage of water and burning of Coal should be stopped at each and every cost.

Carbon emissions lead to dangerous changes in oceans
    Indo Asian News Service, Sydney

The rise in carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions is driving fundamental and dangerous changes in the chemistry and ecosystems of the world's oceans, warn international marine scientists.

More than 30 percent of the CO2 released from burning fossil fuels, cement production, deforestation and other human activities goes straight into the oceans, turning them gradually more acidic.

'Ocean conditions are already more extreme than those experienced by marine organisms and ecosystems for millions of years,' the researchers said. 'This emphasises the urgent need to adopt policies that drastically reduce CO2 emissions.'

Ocean acidification, which the researchers call the 'evil twin of global warming', is caused when the CO2 emitted by human activity, mainly burning fossil fuels, dissolves into the oceans. It is happening independently of, but in combination with, global warming.

'Evidence gathered by scientists around the world... suggests that ocean acidification could represent an equal - or perhaps even greater threat - to the biology of our planet than global warming,' says study co-author, Ove Hoegh-Guldberg.

'The resulting acidification will impact many forms of sea life, especially organisms whose shells or skeletons are made from calcium carbonate, like corals and shellfish,' adds Hoegh-Guldberg, professor at the Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence for Coral Reef Studies.

'These changes are taking place at rates as much as 100 times faster than they ever have over the last tens of millions of years,' Hoegh-Guldberg says.

The scientists say there is now persuasive evidence that mass extinctions in past Earth history, like the 'Great Dying' of 251 million years ago and another wipe-out 55 million years ago, were accompanied by ocean acidification, which may have delivered the deathblow to many species.

'These past periods can serve as great lessons of what we can expect in the future, if we continue to push the acidity the ocean even further,' said lead author, Carles Pelejero, from the Marine Science Institute of CSIC in Barcelona, Spain, according to a release of the ARC Centre.

'This will create conditions not seen on Earth for at least 40 million years,' he said.

These findings were published in the latest issue of Trends in Ecology and Evolution.

Politicians of other provinces want to make Punjab a crippled province but foolish government of Punjab is not able to comprehend that, a sick ,crippled punjab wil be a liability and not an asset for Pakistan.Allowing and accepting wastage of River Indus water in sea in 1991 by Province of Sindh is a fatal and non forgivable crime of Punjab Government.

Accepting wastage of River water in sea is like accepting wasatage of wheat, rice, sugar and cotton in the sea.

The simple logic is that those who do not want dams like Kalabagh to be built, they are enemies of the country or at least don’t want Pakistan to have vibrant economy and social peace. The forces and lobbies that opposed Pakistan and those that are stuck up in their narrow grooves of provincialism would not like Pakistan to become an economically viable country. The weak economy foments societal discontent and poltical instability. That is the spectacle that patriotic Pakistanis have been witnessing since the inception of Pakistan.

Disease of Provincialism in Politicians of NWFP and Sindh is mainly responsible for power shortage mayhem and the resultant chaos in the society due to tormenting blackouts and long power outrages.

The dam or similar projects that are so vital and imperative for a developing country like Pakistan have fallen prey to the petty and narrow politicking in that the parochial or regional sentiments is whipped with an implied message of breakup of Pakistan.
Disease of Provincialism in Politicians of NWFP and Sindh despite expenditure of several billion rupees since the conception of this project, the actual construction has remained elusive. The respective governments due to weak political standing or for reasons of political repercussions could not press for the launching of this most sought-after project that if built by now, would have changed the economic complexion of Pakistan with less power breakdowns and more industrial and agricultural boom.

If the PPP government has brokered an agreement for the change of the title of the NWFP province it should have also sought the consent of the ANP to concede to the unpardonably stalled construction of Kalabagh Dam. There are Pashtun experts who vociferously advocate the need of Kalabagh Dam arguing that all arguments and apprehensions to the contrary were politically motivated by the forces that inherently don’t want Pakistan to be economically robust and viable. The off- repeated propaganda that it would benefit Punjab more and that the vast land of Nowshera would submerge in the dam area are **** and bull stories and mere sham tactics to create paranoid against the Kalabagh Dam. After all Tarbela too at the outset was subjected to such unfounded and concocted gossips but now it is evident that it did not harm even a blade of grass. What would have been the energy situation if there had been no Tarbela dam: one simply shudders to imagine.

The construction of Kalabagh Dam, that if built would be like a life line for the economy and animated social life in Pakistan. This is a sad saga of missed opportunities and the vital nation building projects were sacrificed at the altar of political bargaining and for the base motives of holding on to power with the help of the forces of hatred and provincialism.
