Bangladesh hangs five of Mujib’s assassins

Cheering supporters carry a portrait of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman outside the Dhaka central jail on early Thursday as Bangladesh executed five former military officers for their role in the 1975 massacre of the country's independence leader.
With hundreds of people jamming the streets outside demanding their execution, five ex-army officers, who assassinated Bangladesh’s founder president Sheikh Mujibur Rahman 35 years ago, were hanged shortly after midnight at the central jail here.
The execution of the five men, who were all at least in their 60s, took just 40 minutes though the process of bringing them to the gallows took 35 years since they assassinated the Bangabandhu along with most members of his family in a coup on August 15, 1975.
Mujibur Rahman was killed along with his wife and three sons, including 10-year-old Russel. His daughters, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her younger sister Sheikh Rehana, survived the carnage as they were abroad at the time of the incident.
Ex-Lieutenant Colonel Mohiuddin Ahmed and former Major Bazlul Huda were hanged first as the execution process started late last night while ex-Lieutenant Colonel Syed Faruq Rahman was the third to be executed minutes later.
Former lieutenant colonels Shahriar Rashid Khan and AKM Mohiuddin Ahmed were the last to walk to the gallows.
The five death convicts were hanged hours after the Supreme Court rejected their review plea, jail officials said.
The bodies were handed over to their relatives.
Hundreds of onlookers crowded the streets outside the jail with many chanting slogans demanding their execution.

You will see everything when you will leave following the leftovers of Generals.

These leftovers were voted by AWAM but always sided by Generals.

  5. we need to learn many things from old East Pakistan and new Bangladesh ...
and this news item is adding one more thing to learn ...
we should learn ,how to do justice ...
how to show love and respect to our leaders .
we should learn how to value our leaders ...

we have lost Liaqat Ali Khan and decided that it was a Kariayee ka qatil ,(Sayd Gul) who has done that .
we never came to know ,who had hired him for the job?

we have lost many of our leaders including BB the lastest one ,but never came to know ,who has been behind this murder ?

    reason being ;
1.there are always some ppl from higher ups of that time ,was involved in the said murder and was NOT at all interested in the investigations ....

2...our public has been so pressed with its own aata ,cheeni and pani that it has less time to think and protest for the investigations about the murder of thier respective beloved leaders .

Holding office under Gen Ayub, you call struggle.

    What a struggle!

You have an exceptional sense of humor :-)

  9. Ayub brought him in and he was the one who later kicked him out of foreign office, after which he thought about having a mistitled party of his own. A party supposedly for the betterment of people but has never proved to be one, and how it could be when made by a feudal is serving the feudals till date.

Ayub was the most sensible of generals and had courage to resign. Students had been calling him 'Ayub kutta', and I think after his resignation a time came when he was approached by the same to which he reminded what they had been chanting against him!

Ayoub was forced to resign after a great movement in East and West Pakistan. Many died and students were in front lines of this movement. I still remember two young boys. First was AbdulHamid of Pindighep who was a student at polytechnic Institute Rawalpindi and second was Zaheer Naqvi of Attock who was a student at Noshehra.
