Old parties' days gone, change must: Imran

Imran Khan said that PTI's tsunami of change would facilitate small farmers of Pakistan.

Addressing a public gathering at Bhalwal, he said that downtrodden were being exploited in the name of rules and regulations.

He said that farmers were in dire need of justice as their 30% production was being looted by brokers sitting in the assemblies.

Comparing Indian Punjab with Pakistani Punjab, he said that the PTI was the party which would facilitate the farmers and would provide them every kind of facilities to small farmers.

He said that there is no rule of law. Peoples’ lives and property was at the mercy of looters and plunderers.

He said gone were the days of old political parties and now the PTI would solve all the problems on priority basis.

Referring to NRO case, he said that President has deposited Rs 5 billions in Swiss banks after looting from national economy.

He said that socio economic set up has been ruined as there is tremendous loadshedding of gas and power.

First couple of minutes.
Nawaz ha claimed that Zardari has the immunity so what is Nawaz's stance on it ? What was the "Go Zardari Go" by Nawaz for ?

It would be great if any PML (N) supporter could explain this ?

Democratic transition: Sparring rivals converge behind closed doors

For all their barbed exchanges in public, the country’s two largest parties have met two-thirds of the way in backdoor negotiations over the democratic transition process, well-placed sources told The Express Tribune.

The ruling Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and the opposition Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) have agreed to four out of their six-point negotiation agenda comprising discussions over Senate elections, snap polls and their modalities, interim set-up,accountability bill, a strong and independent poll supervisory body and the issue of new provinces.

Both parties have agreed to continue their negotiations over the remaining items, sources said, adding that President Asif Ali Zardari and PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif are closely monitoring the negotiations process, ongoing for the last two weeks.

Close and trustworthy associates of both leaders are conducting the negotiations – Senator Pervez Rashid on Nawaz’s behalf and Malik Riaz, the real-estate tycoon, on behalf of the president.

Sources said both Rashid and Riaz first met two weeks ago and discussed the agenda. Both report to their leaders promptly and are aided by a few men who provide the technical support for negotiations, sources added.

The two parties have converged on four points – early elections after the budget, Senate elections, accountability bill, and an independent poll commission.

The modalities of general elections and the interim set-up will be discussed by a different set of negotiators, sources said, adding that the recent meeting between Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan and Senator Ishaq Dar was a part of the negotiations.

Dar and Ahsan reportedly discussed details of the interim setup and modalities of forthcoming general elections.
The last point, new provinces, will be discussed by the top leaders – Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani, and Leader of the Opposition in National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan.

Compromises

Sources further said that both parties have decided to leave judicial issues to the courts. The PML-N would wait for the verdicts, but has decided to not resign from the assemblies – national, or Punjab. The PML-N has also reportedly suspended its movement against the president.

Nawaz took stern notice of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s statements against President Zardari, and has asked him to refrain until negotiations are in progress, sources in the party told The Express Tribune.

In return though, sources say, the PML-N has informed PPP it would hold a public gathering in Multan in a month’s time to improve its party graph. The PML-N lost its strength in Multan city after the resignation of former stalwart Javed Hashmi.

Confirmations

The negotiation process was confirmed by senior federal minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) chief Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi while talking to The Express Tribune.
He added, however, that his party would step in to incorporate their suggestions once the dialogue matures.
If the PML-N resigns from the Punjab Assembly, Elahi said they would form a government with the PPP in the province and have informed the PML-N thus. The PML-N cannot achieve much without negotiations with the PPP, he added.

The negotiations were also confirmed by PPP’s former finance minister in the Punjab cabinet Chaudhry Tanveer Ashraf Kaira. He said that Dar and Ahsan discussed the interim set-up during their negotiation.

PML-N’s Information Secretary Senator Mushahiddullah Khan, however, said he has no information about any ongoing negotiations.

He added, however, that the government and opposition discussing the modalities of the upcoming general elections, and the interim setup, was the norm. Malik Riaz and Senator Rashid could not be reached for comments, though.

Published in The Express Tribune, January 9th, 2012.

http://tribune.com.pk/story/318737/democratic-transition-sparring-rivals-converge-behind-closed-doors/

This is hilarious especially considering those buffoons who spend day and night on various forums cursing PPP while their leader is busy pandering to the same PPP.

Refusing to accept that their HeartGate scam stands fully exposed, PML-N is still trying its best to coverup the obvious, with stories getting wilder and wilder to protect the role of Ganju Bros in letting Davis escape.

It has progressed from "hospitalization was part of a regularly scheduled check up" to "some heaviness in his (chest)" to "admitted to the hospital with chest pain"

Similarly, the lies about what got done to him got wilder too: "a regularly scheduled check up" to "a simple and routine heart procedure " to "a radiofrequency ablation procedure operation was held" to "scheduled operation was for angiography...Two stents were inserted during the surgery" to a full-blown "heart-surgery" to the over-dramatic:

"something went horribly wrong..due to a serious complication that occurred..the operation became too complicated and Nawaz Sharif’s condition at one point became more than critical..bleeding looked to be out of control but then the doctors took charge of the situation [****? Who was in charge up to then? The janitors?]...His doctors got very worried and only then London’s top surgeons were summoned by the hospital to perform an emergency surgery to address and fix the problem. His second surgery went long into the night....

But the most pathetic attempt to hide his role in the Davis affair was this one:

It has been learnt that Sharif is still not fully aware of the recent political developments in Pakistan, mainly the Raymond Davis case and the furore surrounding the outcome of this case.

Now that is some selective amnesia....

BTW: Here is another hilarious bit from the same article:

Nawaz Sharif is still in a half-conscious state due to the heavy dosage of medicine given to him since Monday

Which is soon followed by:

Sharif has been kept in deep sleep in the intensive care unit.

How the fvck can one be "half conscious" and yet in "deep sleep"?

Well here is the latest that makes me believe there are a lot more lies to come:
Nawaz Sharif ‘underwent series of heart procedures’
(and yet "Mr Sharif is now recovering well and ‘is expected to be shifted to his home in the next couple of days‘,” said Senator Pervez Rashid...)

:)

After quietly coming to Pakistan, fianlly Nawaz Sharif issued a mild statement.

He can't do anything about the OBL operation.

What he can do is show the 'heart bypass' scar on his chart and put the heart surgery conspiracy to rest :)

Over times and times again, PKPolitics have been blamed to be a mouth of nawaz shareef which was denied by the admins and moderators. Until now, I always thought that it was not the case but now I am having my doubts too.

On the following thread:
http://pkpolitics.com/discuss/topic/response-to-pti-on-ns-ghq-myth

not only my posting were deleted for no reason but MR. Rasheed's own blabbering were left. What is that? Why the moderators and admin's are becoming a party to a discussion? No one is denying the rite to post their views but deleting my posting without any reason is not a fair moderation.
Please DONOT tell me that my posted pictures were doing anything to the format of the page as there hundreds of pictures posted on this site which does that but you have never moderated those pages. I have on various occasion used thr abuse button on various threads but till this day none of those racist comments were deleted but I am surprised that you took action against my postings which had nawaz's pictures?

I want an explanation and apology from the admins otherwise like others who have left, I have no hesitation to leave either. Freedom of speech was too good to be true for a Pakistani website and perhaps it's time for me to wake up.

Desperation is setting in since major bvtts have all been exposed in the Davis Affarir. First, PML-N keeps coming up with "newer and better" stories about Nawaz's heart...

Now Kiyani -- after a "strong protest" -- wants us to believe he is ready to shoot down drones. Honest! :)
(The the fool realize no one will buy it unless 1) A drone IS shot down, and 2) drone strikes stop -- both VERY unlikely).
(That ‘Army trying to cover up bad deal on Davis’, is beyond doubt)

What's next? CJ SC taking suo moto on the Davis affair?
(I am betting on it to prove they too were involved. LHC CJ has already confessed, sort of). And Gilani's defence of the courts takes away any doubt:
PM defends court on Davis release

BTW: Gilani too in his wisdom has admitted they were all involved:
Wrong to blame any one institution for Davis deal: Gilani
:)

P.S. As to what is the new official policy, a hint can be gleaned from this headline:
Three foreigners detained, released

Former president Pervez Musharraf has severely criticised PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif and said he (Nawaz) will never be able to regain power and take him to court.

The retired general who had deposed Mr Sharif in October 1999 told a gathering of Pakistanis on Saturday night that “Nawaz knows that neither will he regain power nor will he be able to try me in a court of law. Therefore, he takes resort to blowing this trumpet time and again.”

Gen (retd) Musharraf said he did not regret the action taken against Baloch leader Nawab Akbar Bugti and against Lal Mosque and stressed he would not apologise for the actions, adding he would do it all over again if forced by the situation.

Continuing his attacks on Mr Sharif, he said that while he raised the slogan of ‘Jaag Punjabi Jaag’ to secure votes in Punjab, he had remained silent over the killing of Punjabis in Balochistan.

Gen (retd) Musharraf accused Mr Sharif of giving refuge in Lahore to Talal Bugti whom he termed ‘lawbreaker’.

Supporters of PML-N gathered outside the hall raised slogans against Musharraf.

its his family who pay the tax coz all his property is owned by them n not in his own name

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) chief Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has said the government has gradually lost all the available options. In an interview with a private television channel, he said no option was left for the government, instead it had to improve itself.
He said the President Zardari should beg pardon from both Allah and the nation. He stated the amalgamation of all the Leagues was being carried out under devilish intent. To a query regarding 18th amendment, he said it was not necessary to blindly support judiciary or government.
He further said that he did not know that Punjab Government was functioning on a stay order. The PML-N chief said this was mere propaganda that he was evading tax adding his family had paid tax of Rs 490 million during Year 2008-09 while a total of Rs 6.67 billion was paid as tax during the last 8 years.
He said his doors were open for the PM and the President to hold talks but it was the time for the government to take solid steps. Meanwhile, the US envoy to Pakistan N.W. Patterson called on Nawaz Sharif. During the course of meeting, Nawaz Sharif strongly condemned the NATO attacks inside Pakistan and demanded that the US should review its policies keeping in view the sacrifices rendered by Pakistan in the war against terrorism.
He warned that the violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty would not be tolerated. Nawaz maintained that anti-Americanism was fueling in Pakistan due to drone attacks. He thanked the US for its rescue and relief efforts for the flood affected people of Pakistan. The US Envoy reiterated her country’s commitment to rehabilitate the recent deluge-stricken people of the country.-SANA

After failing in Pakistan and recent defeat in Punjab Nawaz sharif decided to establish his party in Azad Jammun & Kashmir.
Can he become a PM there ?

See a report.
Nawaz announces to organize PML-N in AJK
PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif, announcing the launch of the party in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, has directed Raja Faroof Haider to organize the party.
He granted this approval at a meeting with the former AJK PM Raja Farooq Haider at Raiwand Farm on Tuesday.
Raja Farooq apprised the PML-N chief of no-trust motion tabled by opposition parties led by Muslim Conference chief Sardar Atiq.
Nawaz said he had already decided to activate N-league in AJK. However, he deferred his decision due to reconciliation with Sardar Qayum and Sardar Atiq.

Here is an very interesting one by Rauf Klasra on the PA resolution against the media. Here are his damning accusations:

1: It was part of "a phase-wise plan" to crackdown on the media
2: The resolution as passed was edited by Shahbaz Sharif himself.
3. Shahbaz Sharif himself chose Sanullah Mastikhel to present the resolution in the PA
4: Two foreign countries were also taken into confidence on the crackdown plan against the media (Why? And why doesn't he name them??)
5: Even harsher measures against the media were in the offing
6: Speaker Punjab Assembly had made a secret telephone call to a top gun of the PPP ... to move similar motions against the media in the Senate, the National Assembly and three other provincial assemblies.

Related:
PML-N apologises to media for resolution

Tariq Butt Asks: Are the two Sharif brothers on the same page?
(Makes me wonder: Did Nawaz conveniently leave the country so he can say "It wasn't me -- I didn't know"???)

25 MNAs of Ruling Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarian (PPPP) had won 2008 elections with our support by our votes! This claim of a banned religious extremist outfit “Sipah-e-Sahaba” has appeared by its leader Mr. Ahmed Ludhyanvi during a recent interview to a Private TV Channel. This subsequently was published in various newspapers.

http://www.dailytimes.com.pk/default.asp?page=2010%5C06%5C21%5Cstory_21-6-2010_pg7_18

PPP-MNAs-elected-with-our-support-SSP

The hidden and open links of several so-called political or religious right-wing parties of Pakistan was not a secrete, like Jamat-e-Islami, Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz Group and Imran Khan’s Tehreek-e-Insaf, who had been proved having links with TTP or Al-Qaida in the past, but it is the fist time when a banned religious extremist outfit not only claimed itself having links with Left Wing Secular Party like PPPP but also the members of the PPP have been found interacting with its leaders.

As per Mr. Ahmed Ludhyanvi’s claim, following PPP’s MNA had been extended SSP’s Support during 2008 elections:

Shah Mehmood Qureshi; (Foreign Minister)
Chaudhri Iftikhar Nazeer; (Member Kashmir Committee)
Mehmood Hayat;
Sardar Abdul Qayyum Jatoi; (Federal Minister)
Jamshed Dasti;
Qamaruz Zaman Kaira; (Federal Minister)
Chaudhry Asghar Jutt;
Shahan Malik;
Tasneem Qureshi;
Nawab Khan Wasan;
Fazal Ali Shah;
Khursheed Shah;
Mian Abdus Sattar;
Shaikh Arif Aziz;
Malik Farooq Azam;
Malik Amir Yar Awan;
Raheela Shahadat Baloch;
Hayatullah Tareen;
Moazzam Jatoi;
Faisal Karim Kundi; (Deputy Speaker NA)
Nouman Shaikh;
Aftab Shabaan Meerani;
Pir Aftab Hussain Shah Jilani;
Amir Khan Magsi;
Sardar Muhammad Goreej;

(Here is the link of the program Insession of Dunya TV)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v4dUUy_Thw0

He also claimed for several MNAs and MPAs of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) that they also were extended support during 2008 Elections.

The claim have appeared at a time when Pakistan is not only fighting a war against Terror but also is a victim of the internal and external terrorism. The role of SSP in sectarian violence resulting in a complete ban on it is no more secret. Its affiliates have not only been found but also convicted in sectarian killings and terrorism against opponents!

Pakistan has become a nursery for the growth and nourishment of Terrorists, specially Punjab and Khayber-Pakhtoonkhwa where the terrorism is at its extreme. People in Pakistan are a soft target for these terrorists. Pakistan Army and Security Agencies along with Civilian Administration are responsible to stop and coup-up with this terrorism, which not only is harming General Public but also damaging Country’s Economy and its reputation all around the world.

Surprisingly, PPP which apparently is so vocal and was well known for its Secular and Liberal Policies have been exposed as a part of such a scandal of having links with banned terrorist outfit. Being in Government it is the responsibility of the PPP to crush the terrorism and terrorist organizations in the country, but is it really possible? If the leaders of PPP are themselves linked with the terrorists and they came into power with their votes and support is it really possible they could stop their ill-motives in the country?

If we look into past, despite the fact TTP is involved into terrorism in Pakistan, the Govt. of PPP had had an agreement with the TTP Terrorists in Swat, resulted in more illegal and un-constitutional activities and terrorism there. Despite the fact PMLN is linked with SSP, TTP and Al-Qaida, PPP had had formed Federal as well as Punjab Government with it.

Now, after this shocking revelation that PPP’s MNA were backed and supported by Banned Terrorist Organization SSP, where the credibility of PPP and its leaders stands?

The international war against terror is not only important for international community, but is fundamental for the existence of Pakistan. It is obvious the target of the terrorists is the solidarity, economy, defense and public of Pakistan, but even if the Govt. supports these terrorists or Govt. Officials of Minister Level who are the Members Legislative Bodies are backed by these terrorists then who would assure the safety and defense of Pakistan and its people?

Are not we, the Common Citizen of Pakistan, left completely isolated on the target of terrorists and their supported representatives?

Why is he not visiting Swat? FATA? Karachi? Baluchistan?
Why he visits London and Dubai more then the above parts of Pakistan?
I actually agree with an earlier post of Khan Sahib that Nawaz shareef is the leader of Punjab Muslim league representing fraction of Punjabis. His political stature is decreasing day by day.

Makhdoom Javed Hashmi who was politically victimized and kept confined by Musharraf and Choudhry Group has been cornered in the party (PML-N).

He is a threat to Mian Brothers as the potential alternative leadership of the party.

He is the only MNA and nominated minister who clearly refused to take oath from Musharraf.

While this nation celebrates the LONG MARCH! Somewhere in pakistan more people are killed By DRONE attacks by Americans! (Yes same Americans who gave Green Signal to Zardari for restoration of CJ and called Shahbaz shareef to reach ISL with full protocol while police was batton charging in Lahore)

http://www.jang.com.pk/jang/mar2009-daily/15-03-2009/up120.gif

Condemn and support people of Pakhtoonistan or one day people of Punjab will face these DRONES attack and rest of Pakistan will stay quite just like Punjab's leaders are quite on Drones attacks in pakhtoonistan.

None of our so called leaders have courage to visit and have a LONG MARCh for these people who has been dumped by their own so called democratic govt and beloved ARMY whose every JAWAN takes an oath of protecting his motherland and its people.

Zardari is a Lomra(Fox).Nawaz is a Khota(donkey) Salman Taseer is
Chachora(cheap and uncouth)shahbaaz is arrogant idiot.

Surely enough Nawaaz is not antiNational like the others and is not sold out (at the moment, considering his past) but he is Khota......
He is elabrating his personality which will subside sooner than later..If he had taken up issues and said

1.zardari is the killer of Benazir...because he knows who killed her as he said time and again but never told name.....(coz he cant give his name)

2.He killed benazirs brother murtaza
3.He fabricated the will of Benazir .Nawaz called her sister ,she never informed her will to brother
4.Benazir never informed Nahid khan her secretary of the will (Is it possible)....no

This will discredit Zardari...nothing else
Nawaaz should ask shahbaaz to have a quick march and refrain from vengeance and language.
Nawaz Shareef and Imran Khan are risking their lives in the public.Any attack on them will be the act of Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ), and will be beleived by all.

DAIR AMMAD , DOURUST AMMAD, but I AM AFRAID, in Nawaz case, he wants to be part of this march to get political stature and benefit.
In essence he is a Coward who left this country when this nation really needed him to stand against the Dictator but he choosed to save his thick skin and left this country.
He then return after a Deal and after winning good mumber of seats, decides to only put all his effort and energy to save punjab’s govt (All of a sudden from a national leader he becomes a regional leader or dare I say, Leader of Punjabis)
Not once he thought to leave this so called collation and come clean and oppose the joint pakistan and american Army operations in NWFP.
Thousands of Pakhtoons are dead in last 5 years only in NWFP and millions homeless and displaced from their villages but our great leader and ex Ameer ul momeneen wannabie did not had the courage to stand up against Mussharaf and now Zardari.

I am sorry but just by issuing statements in the media to stay in picture is utter Selfish, cowardness and not acceptable.

People of Pakistan knows Zardari and co but also the coward leaders of Pakistan.

Imran Khan should keep a distance from Nawaz shareef and co as PTI will have enough support on its own very soon.

First PTI Govt will be formed in NWFP followed by Baluchistan, Punjab and Sindh (INSHALLAH)

Now, this is what the real game is all about.

Mr. Nawaz Sharif and his PMLN have always wanted the judges to be restored and in that they would hit two birds with one stone; Zardari and Musharraf. Now, even though Musharraf is gone, Zardari is still there, and, Mr. Nawaz Sharif would like to see Justice Ch. Iftikhar return and repeal the NRO. Mr. Sharif would then detach from the "coalition" at an appropriate time and try to trigger an early election, hoping to cash in on his popularity. Also, Mr. Sharif needs a weak President who would allow the ban on the 3rd time premiership to be repealed (according to the 17th ammendment, removing this ban requires the Presidents approval).

Mr. Zardari and his PPP on the other hand have made up their mind; Mr. Zardari has decided to become the President so that even if Mr. Sharif is successful in triggering an early election, Mr. Zardari himself as President will be the one holding these elections. And, if Mr. Sharif wins those elections and forms the govt, Mr. Zardari will be ready and armed with 58 2b to spoil their fun as the President will continue to be the President for the next 5 years, regardless of early elections and new govts.

Otherwise, there would be no reason for Zardari as President to keep 58 2b, the Prime Minister, his Prime Minster can dissolve the govt. and the assemblies at any time.

Also, a powerful President Zardari, who would remain President even if the govt. and the assemblies were dissolved and the country was heading for an election, would be able to keep his party under his thumb and spoil any plans Amin Fahim might have for taking charge of the PPP.

Also, as long as Zardari is President, Mr. Sharif will not be able to remove the 3rd time ban on premiership.

In addition to the above, Mr. Zardari can also use his governors to cause trouble in the provinces if the need be, specially in Punjab where the PMLN is the most powerful party. Perhaps there might soon be governor rule in Punjab in the PMLN gives the PPP trouble.

It has been a week since Musharraf left, and, these politicians are already showing their true colors.

By Chris Morris
BBC News, Srinagar

"It came as a bit of a shock. No-one was expecting it."

Professor Noor Ahmad Baba of Kashmir University was as surprised as anyone else when the Kashmir Valley was suddenly rocked last week by what turned into nine days of the biggest Muslim street protests seen in the region for years.

Only when the state government abandoned a controversial plan to transfer land to the trust which runs a Hindu shrine did the demonstrations come to an end.

But they had already become a focus for wider protests about Kashmiri identity.

Who gained from the events of the last two weeks?

Well, Kashmiri separatist parties seem to have discovered a new-found unity. But the notable thing about the protests was that they encompassed Kashmiris of many political persuasions.

'Opportunism'

"People are so frustrated," said Nawaz, a local businessman. "And the only thing they have left to defend is their land. That's why so many people came out and answered the call."

The state government, though, is convinced that the demonstrations were all about political opportunism.

The land transfer, said government minister Abdul Gani Vakil, was only going to be temporary. But when the people protested, the government listened.

"We are going to the people on economic issues," Mr Vakil said.

"The other parties use sentimental and religious issues. We are fighting all these forces, because we want to make Jammu and Kashmir a prosperous state."

And in recent years there have been steps in the right direction. The talk is no longer of insurgency; it's of investment, jobs and career opportunities.

Until the protests were suddenly triggered, the tourist trade was booming.

But Kashmiri separatists insist that that's not enough. And the size of the recent protests suggests that on issues as sensitive as land and identity, plenty of people agree with them.

Solution needed

"Tulip gardens are being inaugurated, football matches are being held, yes all that is happening," said Mirwaiz Omar Farooq, one of Kashmir's main pro-independence politicians.

"But the fact is that unless and until India addresses the sentiment for the resolution of the Kashmir issue I don't think you can have permanent peace in Kashmir."

For now, things have returned to normal in Srinagar. Shops have re-opened, and fuel supplies have been replenished.

But the repercussions of this new phase in Kashmiri protest are still spreading.

Hindu nationalist groups in Jammu, and elsewhere in India, have held angry demonstrations against the state government, accusing it of giving in to separatism.

On Thursday, protesters blocked roads and stopped trains in several Indian states.

The danger is that communal tensions focusing on Kashmir could intensify in the run-up to a series of state and national elections.

'Message to Delhi'

In Kashmir itself, people are wondering what will happen next. Enthusiasm for armed insurgency has long since faded, but demands for political freedom have not.

The outside world often looks at the situation in Kashmir through the prism of the long-running dispute between India and Pakistan, and that is certainly a factor.

But Kashmiris themselves want to have their say. And many of them feel they're being ignored.

"This is a message to Delhi," said Professor Noor Ahmad Baba. "Don't under-estimate the degree of resentment which exists here.

"Just because things are more peaceful now, it doesn't mean the problem of Kashmir has been solved."

Ashsan Waheed

On the surface, at least, a done deal is visible: another round of talks between the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and the Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz (PML-N) were scheduled in Dubai on Sunday April 28 as a prelude to a final draft resolution to be presented to PPP Co-Chairman, Asif Ali Zardari and PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif in Islamabad on April 30: the publicized deadline for the restoration of the judges dismissed under the 2007 November 3 Provisional Constitutional Order (PCO).

Not expected, however, is that the judges will be restored on that given date. Forecast instead is an Executive Order issued by Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gillani on their reinstatement, with the modalities pending another ten days.

The good news is that all of the sacked judges, including Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry, are to be restored, to go by the statements of the Prime Minister. The PPP Information Minister Sherry Rehman, confirmed this, but pressed for the extension of the deadline. The bad news is that the lawyers leading the movement for the judges’ restoration threatened a nationwide strike if the judges were not resurrected by the publicized deadline of April 30.

PPP Co-Chairman Asif Zardari has not helped matters along, by albeit correctly saying on the BBC World Service that the judiciary was politicized - that the judges should “provide justice and not play at politics”. But it was encouraging to have him predict “everyone would be happy with the constitutional package being prepared by the government”. And, with Nawaz Sharif alos reportedly agreeing to extend the reinstatement deadline to May 10, brighter prospects for a much needed agreement on a rapprochement appears on the anvil -- provided, of course, the protesting lawyers are persuaded there is no malafide in the delay.

Against this, however, is a news item appearing in The Post on Monday April 29 which has the PML-N head assuring the Supreme Court Bar Association’s (SCBA) president, Aitizaz Ahsan, that the government would meet the April 30 deadline for the reinstatement of the judges per the Murree Declaration. That presents a grey area suggesting that on being resurrected, Justice Chaudhry may be persuaded leave the matter of President Musharraf’s legitimacy for Parliament to take a final decision on – which, in fact, may be the only way out of the impasse that stands in the way of the country moving towards a renaissance.

Arab News - 25 March, 2008

Pakistan\'s new prime minister, Bhutto loyalist Yousaf Raza Gilani, a former National Assembly speaker, has daunting tasks before him. He begins, however, with a strong mandate for his Pakistan People’s Party, which has wisely entered a coalition with Nawaz Sharif’s Pakistan Muslim League (N). Thus immediately the opportunity is there to short-circuit the bitter and damaging rivalry between these two parties, which historically has so disfigured and disrupted the country’s politics.

This is a government of national unity at a time when, as never before, Pakistan’s politicians need to present a united front to terrorism. It therefore behooves Gilani to avoid a confrontation with President Pervez Musharraf at this time. Restoring the judges Musharraf fired, including Supreme Court Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry, is an inevitable first step for the new premier. The return of the men who challenged the legitimacy of Musharraf’s presidential candidacy will be the final humiliation for the president whose own party was soundly beaten in the elections.

But the country needs a working constitutional apparatus, even if it is imperfect. It is not the time to seek to drive Musharraf from office and alienate the armed forces. Gilani himself was jailed for five years by the military regime in their anti-corruption drive and probably entertains little liking for his head of state. PPP officials claim the charges were trumped up. That may be true. However, such has been the unenviable record of past governments of both the PPP and the Pakistan Muslim League that finding corrupt politicians was as easy as falling off the proverbial log.

The priority now for Gilani is to build a stable coalition administration, establish workable relations with the president and knuckle down to tackling the very real threat of terrorism and lawlessness in the north of the country. The solution is very far from being an exclusively military one. Pakistan has suffered for too long from a lack of government investment in education and health. Inefficiency, compounded by graft, has blighted both economic and social development, and these failures have fostered the anger and despair upon which hardened terrorists and religious bigots have fed.

What is needed therefore is a radical reforming package that will remove the bureaucratic burdens that assail private business and, in so doing, create jobs along with infrastructural investment to fix transportation and ports. This will lay the foundation for the country to catch up with India which has surged ahead economically in recent years.

Because Gilani is working with his party’s normal political rival, Nawaz Sharif, such reforms have a good chance of sticking because they will have widespread political backing. The new premier must also hold out the hand of reconciliation to the frontier tribes, who have long been left to their own devices or bribed to allow the likes of the national oil company to operate in their areas. They must be engaged in the making of a new and prosperous Pakistan and they need to see early evidence that such is happening, rather than the traditional payola and incompetence of their country’s politics.

Jamaat is trying to impose Islamic rule through supporting suicide bombings in Pakistan....

They were sending Jihadist in Kashmir and Afghanistan..it is a known fact...now the same "Jihadist" have become terrorist and destroying Pakistan. , and Jamaat is supporting them....Is it possible that they have been sending Jihadist allover the world and suddenly they dont know about who is doing these suicide bombings.

Qazi wants Musharraf to go and impose his so called islamic rule...but luckily he does not have the majority of people with him to make government so he is supporting these terrorist who call themselves jihadist
killing thousands of innocent man, children and woman in Afhganistan, Iraq and Pakistan.

They are just making Pakistan weaker and weaker and when America will attack Pakistan for this reason that Al Quaida has become strong in Pakistan , then this **** Qazi will order his "Jihadist" to fight against America...and he will be happy that there are bombs allover Pakistan... that is what he calls "ISLAMIC LAW"...he will be the cheif then...thinking he ruling Pakistan.

There have been news earlier that many Al Quaida leaders were living in the house of Jamaat's party members.

The one man who should be arrested and interrogated is Qazi Hussain.

Ant & Grasshopper

Traditional Version

The Ant works hard in the withering heat all summer building its house and laying up supplies for the winter.

The Grasshopper thinks the Ant is a fool and laughs & dances & plays the summer away.

Come winter, the Ant is warm and well fed. The Grasshopper has no food or shelter so he dies out in the cold.

Modern Version

The Ant works hard in the withering heat all summer building its house and laying up supplies for the winter.

The Grasshopper thinks the Ant\'s a fool and laughs & dances & plays the summer away.

Come winter, the shivering Grasshopper calls a press conference and
demands to know why the Ant should be allowed to be warm and well fed while others are cold and starving.

Geo TV, BBC, ARY, CNN show up to provide pictures of the shivering
Grasshopper next to a video of the Ant in his comfortable home with a table filled with food.

The World is stunned by the sharp contrast. How can this be that this poor Grasshopper is allowed to suffer so?

Asma Jahangir stages a demonstration in front of the Ant\'s house.

Imran Khan goes on a fast along with other Grasshoppers demanding that Grasshoppers be relocated to warmer climates during winter.

Amnesty International and Chief Justice Iftikhar criticizes the Pakistan Government for not upholding the fundamental rights of the Grasshopper.

The Internet is flooded with online petitions seeking support to the Grasshopper (many promising Heaven and Everlasting Peace for prompt support as against the wrath of God for non-compliance) .

Opposition MPs stage a walkout. Islamic parties call for \'Hartal\' in Frontier and Baluchistan demanding a Judicial Enquiry.

MQM Coalition in Sindh immediately passes a law preventing Ants from working hard in the heat so as to bring about equality of poverty among Ants and Grasshoppers.

Sheikh Rasheed allocates one free coach to Grasshoppers on all Pakistan Railway Trains, aptly named as the \'Grasshopper Shalimar\'.

Finally, the President drafts an ordinance \' Anti State Terrorism
Against Grasshoppers Act\' [ASTAGA], with effect from the beginning of the winter. Mobilizes state agencies.

Punjab Govt. makes \' Special Reservation \' for Grasshoppers in
Educational Institutions & in Government Services.

The Ant is fined for failing to comply with ASTAGA and having nothing left to pay his retroactive taxes, it\'s home is confiscated by the NAB and handed over to the Grasshopper in a ceremony covered by PTV.

Nawaz Sharief calls it \' A Triumph of Justice \'.

Benazir calls it \' Democratic Justice \'.

MQM calls it the \' Revolutionary Resurgence of the Downtrodden\'

Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz invites the Grasshopper to address the
National Assembly.

Many years later...

The Ants have since migrated to the US , Canada , UK and Middle East, have worked harder then they did before set up a multi-million dollar business.

1000s of Grasshoppers still die of starvation despite reservation
somewhere in Pakistan ... As a result of loosing lot of hard working Ants and feeding the Grasshoppers, ......

Pakistan is still a developing country !!!

Should we allow another country to investigate our own primary matters. I agree that government has provided us with conspiracies rather then any solid reasons for Bhutto's death but still we as a nation should have our own sovereignty?

It reflects the mind set we have as still being colonial slaves mentally of the British Empire?

What can be done to change that?

What do you guys think?

I dont get it she was not against establishment and she was definitely not against army. She was no good for pakistan so why would they kill some one like her, they need these kinda fools to give themn the country and then tell Pakistanis you cannot run a country ur not good enough.

I seriously doubt she was killed by her own pack of wolfs. It cant be musharraf , nawaz or west this time i think it was REALLY a terrorist or a poor desperate Pakistani. Look at the irony people and the bad guys want the same thing now.
